Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Austin Hurley, doing business as JanusTCG ("Janus", "we"), Ontario, Canada, handles personal information. We are the controller of the information described here. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Waitlist: your email address, the date you joined, how you found us, and your approximate country (from your connection).
- Account: name, email, login details, and your plan and subscription status.
- Your inventory: card photos and scans you upload, card details, locations, costs, prices and listing content.
- Connected marketplaces: access tokens for the accounts you connect, your listings, and order details needed to fulfil sales (such as item, price, buyer name and shipping address).
- Payments: handled by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record. We receive your subscription status, country and the last digits/type of your payment method, not your full card number.
- Technical: IP address, device and browser details, and logs needed for security, debugging and preventing abuse.
How we use it
- To provide the service: identify cards, store inventory, create and sync listings, and manage orders (performance of our contract with you).
- To bill subscriptions and apply referral discounts (contract).
- To keep the service secure, prevent fraud and fix problems (legitimate interests).
- To email you about the beta and product updates when you've agreed to it; you can unsubscribe any time (consent).
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations (legal obligation).
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. Card images you upload are used to provide the service to you. We only use them to improve card recognition if you turn that option on in your account.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run Janus, under contracts that protect your data:
- Paddle.com (payments, tax and invoicing)
- OVHcloud, Canada (application servers and database)
- Cloudflare (website hosting, security, image storage and delivery)
- An email delivery provider (account and service emails)
- An error-monitoring provider (crash reports with minimal personal data)
Marketplaces you connect (such as eBay or Shopify) receive the listing and inventory data you choose to send them, under their own privacy policies. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Where it's stored
Our main servers are in Canada. Some providers, such as Cloudflare and Paddle, process data in other countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Where data leaves Canada or the EU/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until the beta opens plus 12 months, or until you unsubscribe.
- Account and inventory data: while your account is open; deleted within 30 days of closing your account, except where we must keep records.
- Billing and tax records: as long as tax law requires (generally 6–7 years).
- Marketplace data: removed when you disconnect the marketplace or when the marketplace tells us an account has been deleted.
- Security logs: up to 90 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California law), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent. Email [email protected]and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada).
Cookies
We use only cookies that are needed for the site and app to work, such as keeping you signed in and protecting forms from bots. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Security
We encrypt data in transit, encrypt marketplace access tokens at rest, restrict access to staff who need it, and keep backups. No system is perfectly secure; we'll notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.
Children
Janus accounts are for people aged 18 or over. We don't knowingly collect children's data.
Changes
We'll post updates here and email account holders about significant changes.
